Flying High In Barcelona

Seeing Barcelona in a private jet, helicopter or hot air balloon is an elevated experience.

Whether for business, pleasure or just for the thrill of it, Iberian Escapes can organise private jet travel and air-borne experiences in Barcelona and beyond.

Private jets and charters in Barcelona

Most of us think that having a state-of-the-art jet for yourself and your entourage is only available to the 1%. But the truth is that private jets are a fairly common component of modern aviation, and not as expensive to hire as you may think.

Whether you need to hire a private jet for business, or a special occasion such as a honeymoon or anniversary, let Iberian Escapes organise everything for you.

Private jets and charter flights in Barcelona use what is known as The Corporate Aviation Terminal at Josep Tarradellas - El Prat Airport. It’s a terminal so exclusive and discreet that most locals don’t even know it exists. It has three well-designed VIP rooms, a meeting room, and 2 rooms for crews to rest in while they are waiting for their next call.

Iberian Escapes offers private jet charter in Barcelona as part of our exclusive Concierge services.

We have access to all sorts of aircraft for hire, from very light Cessnas for couples and small groups, to Boeing business airliners with plush leather armchairs and mahogany work tables, and swish jets with six beds for transatlantic flights. Even a small turbo propeller that whisks you up to the peaks of the Pyrenees – an amazing way to start the ski season!

Or perhaps you would prefer a scenic flight up to the Costa Brava, either to the Cap de Begur, the area's most spectacular cape, or Empúries, the remains of the ancient Greek colony that straddles the coastline?

Either way, contact us for a quote and we will organise everything, hotel pick-up included.

Hover over Barcelona in a Helicopter

Barcelona’s only heliport enjoys a privileged position in the centre of the city - right on the water’s edge next to the commercial port.

This not only provides easy access for short transfers but makes it an attractive option from which to explore Barcelona via a quick airborne jaunt.

Our experienced air pilot can take small groups over Barcelona to see its famous skyline, and as far as the bulbous peaks of Montserrat - the incredible rocky mountain that lies at the heart of Catalonia.

Hot Air Ballooning near Barcelona

Perhaps the thrill of a hot air balloon is more your speed?

Igualada, a handsome provincial town located 60 km west of Barcelona in the Anoia region, is noted as the hot air balloon capital of Spain.

Every July Igualada hosts the European Hot Air Balloon Festival, which fills the sky with colourful globos from all over the world, and lots of musical and gastronomic activities on the ground too.

You could say that hot air ballooning is as familiar in Igualada as cava, the sparking wine that is produced here.

Iberian Escapes offer hot air balloon joyrides over the Anoia region - a beautiful place dotted with historic villages and blanketed in vineyards with vistas of the imposing mountain of Montserrat never far off.

We’ll even offer you a glass of cava to celebrate when you are onboard.

We can also fly you high in a hot air balloon further afield in the Cost Brava, a different perspective that offers an incredible coastline contrasted with the undulating landscape of the Pre-Pyrenees.

This activity includes a 45-minute uphill walk through glorious countryside to reach a natural terrace that is used as a take-off point from which gliders launch themselves into the big blue.

Take a tour of Barcelona in a cable car

Rather than a helicopter or private jet in Barcelona, you can discover Barcelona from the air accompanied by one of our private tour guides.

They will take you to a historic cable car that was constructed in 1929 on the occasion of the Barcelona International Exhibition - at the time a marvel of civil engineering.

Almost a century later, it still shuttles people in glass-enclosed trolleys over the port to the peak of Montjuïc - a journey that takes about 10 minutes.

Once you arrive, you will continue your tour in the air by hopping on another cable car.

A much more modern version with open-sided cars built for two, this one whizzes you from the lower slopes of Montjuïc to its highest peak and the location of Barcelona’s medieval castle-fort.

Our tour guide explains the fascinating history of the castle, which has over the centuries help defend Barcelona from invaders and incarcerate prisoners during the Spanish Civil War.

At the end of the tour, you will climb to the top of the ramparts for a stunning bird’s eye view of Barcelona - this time with your feet firmly on the ground.
